The Price of Bread in Gaza: Blood
Hundreds killed or injured in the past 24 hours while seeking food at GHF aid sites: Palestinians are paying with their lives.
Israeli forces killed more than 120 Palestinians and injured 474 across the Gaza Strip on Tuesday. On Wednesday morning, hospital sources in Gaza reported 57 killed near and en route to GHF aid distribution sites. By afternoon, the death toll had risen to 77. On Thursday alone, 21 people were killed and 294 injured while seeking food.
GHF distribution points, intended to provide basic supplies like flour and bottled water, have repeatedly been struck during Israeli military operations.
Since the resumption of Israeli ground and air assaults on 18 March, more than 4,900 people have been killed and 15,780 injured, adding to an overall death toll of 55,207 since October 7. Over 127,800 have been wounded in total.
Many aid distribution sites are located in central and southern Gaza, where the majority of the displaced population is now concentrated. People gather in the thousands, under frequent drone surveillance.
Medical teams report that many of the wounded die before reaching barely functioning hospitals. Ambulances are unable to access large parts of Gaza due to road damage and ongoing strikes.
Rights groups say the repeated targeting of aid-seeking civilians raises serious concerns under international humanitarian law. UN agencies warn that famine is imminent, with food, water and medicine blocked at the border or destroyed en route.
